Formal Relation among Various Hermitian and non-Hermitian Effective Interactions
Nuclear many-body theory has been intensively studied for many years and reached a high level of understanding, but there still are some unresolved fundamental problems. One of the leading approaches is to introduce an effective interaction and reduce the full many-body problem to a certain model-space problem. There have been many review works concerning the effective interaction theory, for e...
متن کاملAnalyzing the spectrum of general, non-hermitian Dirac operators
We discuss the computational problems when analyzing general, non-hermitian matrices and in particular the un-modified Wilson lattice Dirac operator. We report on our experiences with the Implicitly Restarted Arnoldi Method. The eigenstates of the Wilson-Dirac operator which have real eigenvalues and correspond to zero modes in the continuum are analyzed by correlating the size of the eigenvalu...
متن کاملAn Effective Theory of Dirac Dark Matter
A stable Dirac fermion with four-fermion interactions to leptons suppressed by a scale Λ ∼ 1 TeV is shown to provide a viable candidate for dark matter. The thermal relic abundance matches cosmology, while nuclear recoil direct detection bounds are automatically avoided in the absence of (large) couplings to quarks. The annihilation cross section in the early Universe is the same as the annihil...
متن کاملCones of Hermitian matrices and trigonometric polynomials
In this chapter we study cones in the real Hilbert spaces of Hermitian matrices and real valued trigonometric polynomials. Based on an approach using such cones and their duals, we establish various extension results for positive semidefinite matrices and nonnegative trigonometric polynomials. In addition, we show the connection with semidefinite programming and include some numerical experiments.
متن کاملScattering theory using smeared non-Hermitian potentials
Complex, non-Hermitian potentials V (x) 6= V (x) can often generate the standard, normalizable bound states ψ(x). Unfortunately, the idea [based on the use of a nonlocal ad hoc metric Θ(x, x) 6= δ(x − x) in Hilbert space] cannot directly be transferred to scattering [cf. H. F. Jones, Phys. Rev. D 78, 065032 (2008)]. We complement and modify this result by showing that a return to the causal and...
